GROOVEANIMALS | 2002-2005
“Groovetiere” are products of imagination,
completely recruited from Thiede’s sensory perception. They
are vehicles, whose ideal surface is equipped with all senses, which
have multiple sensors, tentacles, suckers, eyeballs to tap,
smuggle and soak up – with all their senses –
everything they can absorb over and above and more importantly, they
are tools to cut out, spit out, cry out, sound out until visual
saturation.
For Thomas Thiede groove is a continuously flowing vibrating undertone,
a continuous push of energy, like the grumbling of a metropolis, which
provides the electrified body with an unknown urge to move. Groove has
always been an engine through Thomas Thiede’s working path,
but in this series it flows directly into his work for the
first time.
“Groove animals without pedigree”, floating free of
context, aimless, in between / here nor there, it is a fragment of
conversation, an aphorism, a segment of a quotation, which at some
point in time penetrated as a wave from the ether into Thomas
Thiede’s radio receiver and was spit out again transformed
into a word.
